About EDSPECIALISTS
We are a group of vibrant and enthusiastic doctors with experience in providing quality and timely frontline emergency medical care at the Netcare Linksfield Hospital Emergency Department. Our doctors are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In addition, an emergency medicine specialist is on-site from 9am to 9pm, every day of the week. We provide the Linksfield and surrounding communities with a high level of emergency medical care.

We are an accredited Level 3 emergency department which has an emergency medicine specialist either on duty or immediately available on call. The emergency medicine specialist will augment the care provided by an emergency medicine practitioner.

and treatment process
1. On arrival report to reception
Why? We need to know that you are here so that you can be assessed by a medical professional as soon as possible.
2. A reception staff member will refer you to a room, know an the triage room
Why? We want to make sure a doctor sees you as soon as is necessary. Amedical professional will assess you and determine the severity of your problem. This is known as the triage process.
3. Once triaged you or a family member will be required to open a file with the receptionist.
Some patients may be referred for immediate consultation if their problem is of a critical nature.
4. You might have to wait some time before you are seen by the doctor as this waiting period is determined by the priority assigned to you during the triage process.
Why? Not all illnesses are equally severe; patients presenting with a serious injury or condition will be consulted first to ensure their condition does not worsen,
5. When it is time to be seen a nurse a nurse from the Emergency departmnet will call you.
Depending on your presenting illness or injury, the doctor might request none or several investigations. Depending on the treatment required as well as the severity of your illness or injury the doctor might recommend discharge, admission or transfer to an appropriate facility where your treatment can be continued.
